President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday condoled with the people of Rakai following the September earthquake that left a number homeless.
According to technocrats the earth tremor epicentre was Bukoba Tanzania however, in Uganda, Rakai was most affected given its proximity.
“After receiving various reports, today I went to see and commiserate with our people of Rakai who were affected most by the September earthquake,” Museveni said.
He added, “We thank God there were no lives lost because life is the only valuable that cannot be replaced.”
The families whose homes were completely razed will get 30 iron sheets, cement and iron bars as contribution from government for their rehabilitation.
In his concluding remarks, the President urged people of Rakai to build stronger structures due to the fact that its geography is prone to such kind of catastrophes.
