Despite the heavy rains, NRM supporters in Kagadi turned up in large numbers for rallies on Wednesday.
President Yoweri Museveni was in the district campaigning for two ruling party candidates; Jennifer Mbabazi for Woman MP and Stephen Mfashingabo for LC5.
“I am actually glad that it rained. I know that Kagadi has been experiencing a prolonged drought,” said Museveni who was holding an umbrella told the crowd.
He said the new district was functional which he described as good.
“It is evidence that NRM doesn’t lie. It does what it should, in it’s time,” added Museveni.
Museveni said that Bunyoro has always been a sub-region of many tribes urging leaders not to “bring sectarianism in your new district”.
The president advised that the district is meant to bring services closer and not to promote tribalism.
The president also thanked Bunyoro for voting well in the last elections.
He said NRM is the door that closes out problems.
“I urge you to work with Operation Wealth Creation to get out of poverty.”
