President Yoweri Museveni has explained why he supports former vice president Dr Speciosa Wandira Kazibwe for the position of African Union Commission chairperson.
“As a proud OAU Founder Member, Uganda is proud to present and support the candidacy of Dr. Speciosa Wandira-Kazibwe for the position of Chairperson, African Union Commission, 2016 – 2020,” Museveni said.
In a statement, the president chronicled the different contributions Uganda has made to AU and why Speciosa was the right person to replace Dlamini Zuma.
The state-run New Vision said the President had released millions to Speciosa for her campaign.
Speciosa Wandira-Kazibwe on Monday held talks with Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Amina Muhammed on margins of the pre-summit inter-ministerial meeting of the ICGLR in Luanda.
The talks were centered on the candidature of Dr. Kazibwe for Chairperson of the African Union Commission 2016-2020.
