Florence Kiremerwa, the presidential special Assistant on Diaspora issues was on Saturday involved in a car accident in Kabarole district.
The incident happened about three miles from Hoima Town on the Kampala highway.
Kiremerwa was among the state house staff that accompanied President Yoweri Museveni who was a chief guest at Hoima “Empango celebrations”– the coronation of Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara, Solomon Gafabusa Iguru.
The aide who was returning to Kampala sustained fatal injuries including broken legs and a damage to her bladder.
She was first rushed to Hoima hospital for first aid and later transferred to Nakasero hospital in Kampala for more treatment.
Earlier, drama ensued for close to one hour after the government ambulance that was supposed to rush the aide to hospital could not make it because of a mechanical breakdown.
Her furious colleagues first fumed at Hoima hospital before hiring a private ambulance from one of the doctors.
When Kiremerwa regained consciousness, she treated onlookers to another round of drama.
She reportedly wailed after seeing her posh Shs35m car registration No. UAY 764 B crushed beyond repair.
The vice president H.E Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi later visited her in Nakasero and promised to brief the president about her condition.
