FDC party president Mugisha Muntu has denied accusations brought against him by Aruu county MP Odonga Otto.
Otto claimed yesterday that Muntu had betrayed Kizza Besigye and revenged on officials who support him by excluding them from cabinet.
Muntu denied the allegation explaining why he left Otto out.
This is his statement:
I have just noticed Hon Odonga Otto’s comment on the shadow cabinet.
I respond thus; If I was vindictive or vengeful I would have used my position to field candidates against all MP candidates who had not surpoted me during our presidential & flag bearer primaries like was done against most MP candidates who surppoted me.
I campaigned for all party candidates irregardless of whether they had ever surpoted me or not.
If I was vengeful or vindictive I would not have comfortably & successfully worked with a NEC that is composed 8o% of colleagues who did not support me in the primaries for now 1 year.
If I was vengeful or vindictive I would not have comfortably & successfully worked with Hon Wafura Oguttu for two and a half years whom I appointed as LOP even when he had never supported me for the three times that I have contested.
Incidentally I never appointed Hon Odonga Otto then & yet he actively supported me in the Party Presidential elections( which Am grateful for).
In the 9th parliament Hon Odonga Otto was constantly contradicting the LOP on the floor of the house for which cases were brought to NEC & Working Committee proposing disciplinary action. This was close to nomination of candidates.
If I was vindictive or vengeful this would have been an opportunity for me to try & influence the committees to eliminate him from the party ticket.
I didn’t even try. The reason for Hon Otto or anybody else’s non inclusion in the parliamentary leadership cannot be from vengefulness or because anybody supported Dr Kiiza Besigye.
In any case Dr Kiiza Besigye was not supported by only 2 MP’s in the 9th parliament ( for it is only 2 who are not in the 10th parliamentary leadership).
I hope this will shade some light on this issue.
