Josephine Mayanja Nkangi, the communications official of JPAM team accuses Irene Muloni, minister of Energy and Mineral Development of hiring thugs in an anti-Amama Mbabazi Mbale town campaign.
Mbabazi made his maiden appearance in Mbale yesterday pulling crowds that none expected and clashing with police in due course.
Speaking this morning on NBS TV Morning Breeze, Nkangi said she was waiting for the kind of crowd that will turn up today as Amama travels to Kapchorwa.
She said when the Bulambuli District Woman MP Muloni organized anti-Mbabazi campaign in Mbale, the crowds had to be hired.
“Hon. Muloni hired anti-Amama campaign crowds in Mbale and paid them,” Nkangi alleged.
In July, Muloni and Mbale LC-V chairman Bernard Mujasi led an anti-Mbabazi procession around town as other officials from the NRM secretariat clandestinely mobilised the locals to shun the former NRM secretary general’s meeting.
Mbabazi’s meeting had been planned at Mbale Resort hotel but the hotel management communicated to his coordinators that they would not host Amama.
The police arrested five members of Mbabazi’s advance team that had booked in at Mbale Resort hotel.
The five; Bright Muhumuza, John Kasozi, Gad Kamuradi, Wilberforce Ahimbisibwe and Christopher Aine Kato were detained at Mbale Central police station.
Amama too was arrested enroute Mbale and detained in Kampala.
Nkangi said, however, that yesterday was a defining moment.
“It was clear proof that you can’t force Ugandans to do what they don’t want.”
Nkangi said people in Uganda have been forced to take sides and because of this, people become divided.
“I would only serve President Museveni if he won a free and fair election,” she announced.
