Medical interns at Mulago National Referral Hospital announced a strike on Monday demanding payment of their salaries.
The interns who include medical doctors, pharmacists and nurses, claim to have missed allowances for the last four months.
The intern doctors are entitled to a monthly payment of Shs600,000.
They are deployed in government medical facilities across the country as a precondition for confirmation as medical doctors.
The deployment enables them to achieve hands-on clinical experience.
But they say that they find it increasingly hard to work without facilitation.
In May last year, the interns went on strike following the failure by authorities to pay their salaries for the last three months.
They joined more than 200 interns across the country who went on strike protesting non-payment for four months.
