Mukono mayor Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga on Thursday night escaped death narrowly after he was attacked by two gunmen.
Ssenyonga, who is also Mukono south National Resistnce Movement (NRM) flag bearer survived death by a whisker after the unknown assailants shot two bullets at the car, a land cruiser UAK 612F he was travelling in.
The gun men reportedly failed to target him and shot one bullet on the tires and the other in the behind seat.
However, the assailants sped off thinking they had accomplished their mission.
The attack is said to have happened at around 9:00pm in Kasala Forest Nakisunga sub-county in Mukono south when he was from his campaign rallies.
“I was from Terere vllage where I had gone to campaign and after my compaigns I deicided to meet my campaigning team up to around 8;00pm but after leaving them on my way home I saw a motorcycle coming from my back and I did not know that it had gun men,” Ssenyonga told the media.
The OC CID Mukono Henry Ayebare said cartridges of SMG gun were recovered at the scene and investigations are ongoing.
