Opposition Members of Parliament have called upon government to immediately release the Rwenzururu King Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere and a list of the deceased.
During the press conference in Kampala, the MPs said they were traveling to Nalufenya Prison in Jinja to visit the king. Mumbere is detained at Nalufenya. According to Police, he faces treason charges.
The members of parliament included Atkins Katusabe for Bukonzo West, William Nzoghu for Busongora North, Kasese Municipality MP Centenary Robert and his Bukonzo East counterpart Harold Muhindo.
They legislators jointly say that the attack on the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Palace was uncalled for and instead endangered the lives of people.

“We were informed that the President had given the King an ultimatum of only two hours to surrender the royal guards. We immediately discussed that and after a few minutes the King agreed. However, he requested that they should be given safe passage and protected because at this time, the whole Palace was surrounded by soldiers,” Katusabe.
However after the Kings visit at Nalufenya prison, the Kasese municipality member of parliament Hon Robert Centenary has also revealed how the Omusinga was tortured during the the arrest and inside the UPDF mamba that evacuated him from the palace.
