Aruu County MP Odonga Otto has faulted the family of city businessman Mathew Kanyamunyu who was arrested along with his Burundian friend Cynthia Munwangari to help police with investigations following the shooting of a social worker Kenneth Akena in Game stores.
According to MP Otto, Kanyamunyu’s family is trying to spin the story to make the public believe that the businessman and chief executive officer of Quantum Logistics Express is innocent.
Otto’s remarks come just hours after a one Joseph Kanyamunyu shared on social media that a section of the media have been unfairly reporting about the case.
Joseph said the family and relatives of Munwangari who was in the company of Mathew are being politically persecuted in their home country, insinuating that the bullets shot at Kenneth Akena might have caught him by accident as the assailants attempted to shoot Kanyamunyu.
“Is mathew trying to say when someone came to kill him, fired a bullet he did not run away from the scene instead he remained there to “save” the deceased?
Was it a coincidence that at the time of killing the car was scratched?,” wondered the MP.
“We want justice. As concerned lawyers, we will Institute private criminal prosection alongside the state to meet the ends of justice,” he said.
According to him, a group of 10 Acholi MPs today went to the police station and confirmed Mathew is still in custody.
