Mukono municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze has accused a Ugandan/Indian national of setting dogs at her constituents.
According to the MP, the Indian national only identified as Monisha living at Sir Apollo Kaggwa is found of setting her dogs to bite Ugandan nationals as she laughs herself silly.
Nambooze also accused police of ignoring cases filed against Monisha’s continued impunity.
“There is an Indian woman Monisha living at Sir Apollo Kaggwa who is a sadist. She sets dogs to bite people as she laughs herself silly. Interestingly, all cases reported against her at old Kampala Police Station have been ignored. Last week she set the dogs on my constituent Nambi Fazira who had gone at her neighbours place for treatment. Yesterday I presented this matter in Parliament,” Nambooze posted on her Facebook wall, sparking off a barrage of bitter criticism from her followers accusing police of partiality, treating Indian nationals as kings and queens at the cost of Ugandans suffering in their hands.
“I really wonder if a Ugandan who lives in India can commit such impunity and he or she is not deported or imprisoned. The citizens are marginalized, abused and tortured by the foreigners because the Wana inchis are poor. Who can forget the act of the Pakistanis who gang raped a young girl who was working as your maid and the police had hide the file. Can you imagine. Walayi nze awo nzita omugwiira ekiba bekiba. Okuzalibwa kumu nokufa kumu,” replied a one Kenneth Makanga.
Another of the MP’s follower Jeff Kageni said: “That’s why people don’t trust police. The DPC should update us regarding that file.”
According to Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBoS), there are over one million nationals living in Uganda with the biggest percentage In both formal and informal trade.
In January this year, police arrested 17 Indians, 9 Chinese people, 8 Pakistanis and a German national on suspicions of living in Uganda illegally.
