Kasese Woman Member of Parliament Hon Winnie Kizza says government is torturing the people of Kasese for refusing to vote President Yoweri Museveni.
“What is happening in Kasese is a replica of what happened in the days of former President Idi Amin,” Kizza told journalists in her brief on Kasese killings.
She said on Good Friday, the police flying squad raided the offices of Rwenzururu King Charles Mumbere in Kasese town.
On Easter, Yofesi Maate Mugoye, a royal guard and a quarter master in the Buhukira Royal Palace, was shot dead by police flying squad at Sauliyako market.
Over the weekend, Capt Mike Mukula visited Mumbere and asked him to calm upon his people for calm.
Yet afterwards, UPDF soldiers clashed with the King’s guards leading to the death of two officers and a boda boda motorcyclist.

“May be the government is torturing people of Kasese because they voted for opposition,” Kizza pointed out.
She compared the flying squad to Amin’s State Research Bureau [SRB].
“We are beginning to wonder if there is any difference between the Amin regime and this regime.”
She added: “That is why we are asking ‘can we be told why the flying squad is going to Kasese to kill our people’?”
She said Kasese leaders want their people to live in peace.
“It is our constitutional right to vote for Besigye. If they want to do away with the King, let them come out and state it.”
She demanded that government pulls flying squad out of Kasese or confess that they want to eliminate the Bakonzo as a people.
Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says Police Flying Squad is in Kasese to hunt down suspects behind the attacks on Kidodo Police Post who killed a police officer and stole a gun.
Security agents have so far killed Mumbere’s five royal guards and other civilians in post-election violence.
