Rose Akol, the Woman Representative for Bukedea District has been appointed minister of Internal Affairs.
Presidential press secretary, Lindah Nabusayi, confirms the appointment.
She says the president has already sent the letter to the speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, on the appointments.
Akol replaces the late former army commander, Gen Aronda Nyakairima.
Aronda died in Dubai while returning from South Korea where he had gone on national identity card issues.
Akol has already promised to do whatever is required of her to ensure the ministry runs smoothly.
In a short message, she thanked the president for appointing her citing a hard task ahead.
