A mother in Jinja District in eastern Uganda has accusd Jinja Referral Hospital doctors of negligence when the chased her away during her labour pains in order to prepare for the visit of Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.
Monicah Wokobeire, who was in labour, lost her triplets when she went to the hospital and was turned away by the doctors who reportedly told her they were very busy cleaning the hospital wards and organizing for Kadaga who also doubles as theKamuli Woman MP.
Wokobeire the wife to Peter Magoma, a resident of Buzaya Sub-county in Kamuli district says she is still shocked by the conduct of some of the maternity ward nurses.
Two of the babies died upon delivery while the third died as it was being rushed to the nearby Nalufenya Children Hospital.
Ironically, the Wednesday incident happened a few moments before Kadaga arrived at the referral hospital where she launched the Preterm Birth Initiative (PTBi), an initiative founded on the belief that every child deserves a healthy start, regardless of the circumstances he or she was born into.
