More than 70 arrested in Namugongo


More than 70 suspects have been arrested in Namugongo over various crimes as millions of celebrants throng Catholic and Protestnt Shrines to mark Martyrs Day.

The police by press time said it had arrested people suspected to have engaged in pick pocketing and disorderly conduct.

“They are being held at Kira Division police headquarters,” Mr John Baptist Sserunjogi, the DPC Kira Division police said.

Mr Ronald Mugabi, Assistant Inspector of Police (ASP) who was in charge of security at the Anglican Church Shrines in Nakiyanja said they arrested six youth for being in possession stolen items.

Mr Norman Musinga, the traffic commander in Kampala Metropolitan Area said they are yet to register traffic mishaps.
