Another Burundi soldier, sergeant Philbert Niyonkuru, aka Mbotso has been killed in Musaga district of the capital Bujumbura.
His body, according to Iwacu, was discovered this Thursday, August 20th at 6:00 am on 2nd Avenue along a lane leading to the Mpimba central prison.
He was wearing a sports outfit and tied up after being shot dead.
Sporadic gunfire punctuated with grenade explosions were also heard on Wednesday night.
Another body was found near the bridge over the Kanyosha Rumonge road.
Meanwhile, radio Bonesha FM, reports an attack in the commune of Mayuyu Mukike in Bujumbura province on Wednesday that left one person dead and another injured.
Two people, including a Rwandan who had no identity cards were arrested and incarcerated in the dungeons of the police in Gitega.
Another soldier killed in Somalia
Meanwhile, another Burundi soldier was killed and 15 others wounded when two grenades exploded inside their base in Mogadishu Huruwa district.
Amisom said the soldier died after two grenades he was carrying accidentally exploded killing him instantly.
“Fifteen other soldiers in the vicinity were injured and are receiving treatment at AMISOM Level 2 and Level 1 hospitals in Mogadishu,” the mission said in a tweet.
It added: “All injured soldiers are in stable condition. The unfortunate incident occurred in Maslah, located in AMISOM Sector 5.”
