A 36-year-old man has been lynched by a mob in Kigulamo village in Mpungwe Sub County in Mayuge district for allegedly killing his stepmother over land.
Incensed residents descended on Wilson Mugoya and beat him to death on suspicion that he had killed his 60-year-old step mother, Zei Mutesi over land left by her husband late Zei Mukama.
The Mugoya is said to have waylaid Mutesi in the potato vine where she had gone to did and hacked her using a hoe.
One of her grandchildren, a five-year-old who witnessed the incident ran in fear and alerted the residents who launched a search of Mugoya who had gone into hiding.
His luck ran out after the incensed residents found him hiding in the nearby sugarcane.
He was then stoned to death as punishment for his crime.
The O/C CID Mayuge district Nassar Mulimira condemned the act of mob justice saying castigated the area LC chairperson whom he said had information about the land conflict but did not report to police for help.
The village LC I chairman Sharif Basoga said the two has fighting over the said land for the last two years.
