General Duties minister Karooro Okurut has again been named in another Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) property scandal.
The government owned TV on Thursday presented to parliament a list of 10 individuals and corporations, including minister Okurut and Burahya County MP Margaret Muhanga , that have benefited from its controversial land giveaways.
UBC managing director Winston David Agaba said they are digging up records of the land transactions initiated by the previous managements to ascertain who paid for which land and whether the transactions were within the ambit of the law.
According to him, Extreme Innovations Ltd, a company whose listed directors include Okurut and MP Muhanga, obtained 2.391 acres at Shs957m between 2006- 2007.
This is not the first time minister Karoro is being named in the broadcaster’s property grabbing saga.
In 2011 while she was the information minister, she was accused of stealing UBC mast.
A case the made her very unpopular among her supporters.
