The Constitutional Amendment Bill 2016 proposed by MP Hon. Kafeero Ssekitoleko continues to draw mixed reactions from the public.

The bill which was deferred yesterday suggests the scraping of presidential age limit and extending that of judges to 75 years.

According to the minister of General duties Prof Tarsis Kabwegyere, the people complaining about the age limit are only focusing on president Yoweri Museveni as a person.

Appearing on NBS morning breeze on Wednesday, Kabwegyere further said that if people are to judge the president, they should judge him on what he is supposed to do and what he has done.

“People who focus on age limit, tend to focus on Museveni as a person. That’s a big illusion,” he noted.

The controversial bill was supposed to be discussed in parliament on Tuesday 30th August but plenary was suspended without clear reasons.

According to Kabwegyere, age is not a liability until one is tested.

He said the age question touches on everyone including doctors, professors, judges and so many professions
