Henry Banyenzaki, the State Minister for Economic Monitoring has once again been accused of attempting to kidnap the Kabale District Speaker, Twinomuhangi Pastori.
Twinomuhangi was intercepted on Sunday evening by the minister and his guards at Ndekura Kyenyi in Muko sub-county near Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district.
Banyenzaki was cruising his official government vehicle registration number UG 2253C.
Twinomuhangi was in the company of Vincent Akansasira and a one Baraba the Muko Sub County aspirant chairperson.
Twinomuhangi who was in his private vehicle was returning from a rally in Kyenyi and travelling to Heisesero on Lake Bunyonyi.
Banyenzaki, the Rubanda West Member of Parliament, reportedly moved out of the vehicle and ordered him to open the car window.
Twinomuhangi told URN saying the minister and his guards were trying to open his vehicle forcefully when residents intervened forcing them to retreat.
He later ordered the guards to deflate the speaker’s car tyres.
The Kigezi Region Police Commander, Ben Mubangizi, says they have received the complaint and are investigating the matter.
This is the second time the minister is kidnapping government officials.
In August, he tried to kidnap former deputy district resident commissioner for Kabale district, Moses Niwagaba, at Rubare in Ntungamo district.
Banyenzaki managed to take away Niwagaba’s vehicle and some personal items.
Niwagaba who is now the deputy RDC Mitooma reported a case of theft at Ntungamo police station and the vehicle was recovered by police.
