The state minister for children and youth affairs, Honourable Evelyn Anite, has pledged Shs1m to help save Carol Atuhairwe who is battling cancer.
The minister made the pledge on Friday in the presence of National Social Security Fund Managing Director Richard Byarugaba.
Also present was social media and PR guru, Sarah Kagingo.
NSSF pledged 1000 dollars for the cause as earlier promised.
Atuhairwe needs $80,000 for her treatment in the USA. She is suffering from throat and lung cancers.
Friends, family and good Samaritans have started a fundraising campaign to ensure she gets the needed treatment.
NTV journalist Charles Mwanguhya visited the patient’s home in Makindye.
He was accompanied by activist Godbar Tumushabe.
They were later joined by Electoral Commission spokesperson Jotham Tarwmwa who is heading a social media fundraising for Atuhairwe.
On Saturday April 23, there will be a car wash event at Panamera Bar, Naguru opposite Kampala Parents School set to raise funds for the same cause.
