Makindye Magistrates Court on Tuesday dismissed a case in which city businessman, Suleiman Mbuga, is accused of assaulting lover and singer, Leila Kayondo.

On December 31, 2015, Mbuga found Kayondo at Speke Resort with another man and smacked her in the face.

The crying Kayondo rushed to Kabalagala Police Station and reported an assault case.

Mbuga was not arrested, throwing Kayondo into a rage that saw her insult police.

Police then explained that it had searched for Mbuga to no avail upon which Kayondo issued a formal apology to the force.

Police chief Gen Kale Kayihura, moved by pictures of her bruised body and an attack on his officers, ordered Kayondo’s boyfriend arrested.

Mbuga was caged before being granted a non- cash bail of Shs5m last week.

Makindye court chief magistrate, Richard Mafabi, today threw out the case after Mbuga reconciled with Kayondo.

The magistrate said Kayondo personally withdrew the case.
