Government sponsored students of Mbarara University of Science and Technology have gone on strike over what they called delayed remittance of their allowance.
The students led by their guild president Charles Obore on Tuesday stormed the university’s vice chancellor demanding for their allowances.
In a meeting held on Monday, the students declare today freedom Tuesday and threatened to hire Global buses to Parliament to petition speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
The Tuesday strike also disrupted lectures.
Government is charged with the responsibility of giving feeding and housing allowance to each of the students admitted on government merit.
However, students claim government is yet to give them the money and this has frustrated their life.
Their strike comes just days after public universities non-teaching staff agreed to call od their protest over salary increment.
