It’s high time we stopped shouting and did something viable to regain the lost glory of the once cleanest city in East Africa. Waste management has gone to the dogs in Mbale Municipality.
The town dwellers think they are less concerned with the state of affairs as far as waste disposal and management is concerned. The dwellers and visitors business owners alike just dump rubbish anyhow wherever and whenever they please.
This is just one of the scenarios one is bound to bump into after every a hundred or so metres.
I don’t know what happened to the garbage skits that used to encourage people to dispose of refuse in a human and civilised manner.
Where did the “Bulungi bwa nsi” spirit amongst communities go?
Where are the concerned residents and what are they doing?
Where are the crime preventers?
Where are our local leaders including the Area Councillors, L.C V, Mayor, RDC, Member of Parliament just to mention but a few.
