Uganda’s aspiring presidential candidate, Amama Mbabazi, and the country’s President, Yoweri Museveni, were among those who congratulated She Cranes for the marvellous performance against Wales, a top 10 world team at Netball Central competitions held in Sydney.
She Cranes on Monday lost to Wales 49-47, but played a game to remember at Allphones Netball Arena.
She Cranes led 38-35 in the final quarter only to lose afterwards leaving Wales to lead group D.
Now She Cranes braces for another encounter with Malawi.
Malawi who are currently ranked sixth go into the fixture as favourites.
But Mbabazi says the She Cranes did a marvellous job against Wales, a top 10 team.
“I believe we’re through to the next round? Not a bad result at all!” he said in a tweet.
He earlier on congratulated the team for defeating Fiji and Zambia.
Equally so, president Museveni thinks a game against Wales was a hurdle.
“That was a tough game and you played it like champions,” he said in a tweet.
He was still optimistic because “She Cranes are still among the top performers”.
“We are supporting you to the end,” he pledged.
