Hon Miria Matembe a leading women’s activist in the country has apologised to the country on the photograph of her which recently went viral.
Makerere University Business School Principal, Prof Waswa Balunya who attended the 6th Annual International Leadership Conference in Bugolobi, quotes Matembe saying she “was shocked to learn that a friend she was with in a hotel relaxing on the balcony of her hotel outside the country took this photo and sent it on social media”.
She was informed about the picture by another friend who sent it to her on WhatsApp.
She said it was unfortunate that a fellow woman took advantage of their private moments in a hotel to take the picture and worse still, send it out.
“A hotel room is like your bedroom at home, where you are expected to have a degree of privacy,” she said.
“I have already forgiven the person who took the photo.”
She appealed to women to respect one another and not to pull others down especially for no good reason.
“As human beings we are prone to make mistakes but even when mistakes are made we should not take advantage of them.”
