Democratic Party president Norbert Mao has been living on edge for a week atleast in anticipation that he had the deadly cancer which is shaking Uganda to the roots.
Mao says last week, his doctors ordered a biopsy on some tissues from his body, suspecting cancer.
The sample was taken overseas for lab tests.
“All through the week I and my close friends and family were anxious about what the lab tests would show. What with the big buzz over the pitfalls of cancer treatment in our blessed republic! Seven days of waiting was like eternity.”
One of his doctors was even psychologically preparing him for any eventuality.
He says friends and family cried out to God.
“One friend even went to Bukalango prayer center to dedicate a special prayer of intercession for me.”
Fortunately, on Wednesday morning a one Dr. Adam Kimala of Kampala Hospital called Mao only to tell him the tests were negative.
“You should slaughter the biggest chicken you can get hold of. Your test results are back and I am very happy with what I see”, he told Mao.
He then went on to read for him a lot of medical “jumbo jumbo” before telling him, “No cancer cells detected…”
Kimala is a surgeon with over thirty years’ experience, a teacher at Makerere Medical School, an author and Katikiro of Buganda’s Mamba Clan.
The development comes at a time Ugandans are soliciting funds to help Carol Atuhairwe get cancer treatment abroad.
Mao has been hospitalised before with severe ailments.
