A 20-year- old man who  was arrested for allegedly vandalizing the house of jailed Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye has been found to be mentally ill.

The suspect identified as Ngabirano Andrew is said to have tested positive to mental disorders, according to the
Rukungiri Municipal principal medical officer Dr Emmanuel Musiimenta.

Dr Musiimenta said Ngabirano needs urgent psychiatric management because he has grandiose delusions.
DPC Ronald Wotwali corroborated Dr Musiimenta saying police preliminary police investigations had revealed Ngabirano has a mental disorder.

On June 5, Police in Rukungiri District said it was investigating circumstances under which Besigye’s house was broken into.

Police said the house was broken into on the night of June by unknown assailants.

Early this month, Besigye who was expected to appear before Nakawa Magistrates Court for mention of a treason case he was charged with was not brought to court from Luzira Prison where he’s detained over security fears.
