The man who smashed Kizza Besigye’s car window in 2011 during his brutal arrest is reportedly trailing him.
While being arrested for the fourth time in one month at the peak of the “walk-to-work” protests against high prices, a hooded man smashed Besigye’s car windows while operative Gilbert Bwana Ariniatwe sprayed him with pepper gas.
The incident that took place around Mulago roundabout, saw Arinaitwe drag Besigye out of his car, arrest him and whisk him off.
Today, Besigye revealed that the same hooded man who smashed his vehicle with a hammer back then, has been sighted on a boda boda following him [Besigye].
Besigye shared the picture of the suspicious man riding on a boda boda.
“The passenger on this police motorcycle following me now is the hooded man that smashed my vehicle at Mulago r/about!”Besigye said in a tweet.
The intentions of the man trailing Besigye are still unknown.
During his recent visit to Hoima district, Besigye’s car tyre went up in flames almost causing a fatal accident.
Besigye later said the car was the same vehicle Arinaitwe vandalised during the 2011 arrest.
It had been at Central Police Station and on picking, alleges the opposition politician, a policeman was “seen spraying it with a chemical”.
Besigye has been arrested several times over activism.
Currently, he is traversing the country seeking support for presidential flag bearer of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change.
This time round, he has permission from police to address rallies.
