Ugandan opposition has brought accusations against a man they allege to belong to the ruling party NRM party for reportedly trying to assassinate Kizza Besigye through poisoning.
Now branded a “regime mole”, Nick Karamagi, the alleged assassin reportedly tried to poison Besigye on his tour of Europe where he addressed Ugandans living in diaspora.
Sources told us Nick Karamagi is a son of a staunch NRM supporter from Otuke district, a one Benson Ogwang-Ogoo.
Besigye aides in the diaspora took a picture of Karamagi at the venue of the recent event that the FDC UK Chapter and P1O Diaspora organised to host Besigye on the 27th of August 2016.
Karamagi is said to be married to a Ugandan model called Eva Mbabazi.
According to Power 10 [P10] Diaspora security members, thorough investigations were made and Karamagi was discovered on the day of the event.
It is said in disguise of offering a hefty financial contribution, he requested for a special one-on-one access to Besigye.
A member of Besigye’s security team said he was approached by Karamagi who claimed he had a £1500 [about Shs6,253,442] and wanted to hand it to Besigye personally.
“I hesitated at one point. I contacted my President [Besigye] and he was willing to meet him. I asked him many questions and he failed to answer them.”
The security official then asked his colleagues and they totally refused.
“I wrote back to the president that after vetting the person, I have decided he won’t meet him.”
P10 executive in UK then advised Karamagi to bank the money on FDC’s account after which Besigye would call and thank him.
However, Karamagi rejected the advice and instead offered to host FDC members in his house for a get-together goat roasting party, which they turned down.
“Stay clear of this goon. He claims his parents are from Bunyoro although he doesn’t know the language,” one of the FDC executive members said.
