An aggrieved resident of Entebbe last week rushed the Uganda National Roads Authority [UNRA] to High Court in Kampala for refusing to compensate him.
Mahmud Ssekimpi, the complainant, says his seven-acre plot – located at Nakigala in Busiro was confiscated during the construction of the Kampala- Entebbe Expressway.
Ssekimpi contends that in 2013, he was approached by UNRA through Mott MacDonald [an employee-owned management, engineering and development consultancy working around the world] who asked for his land title saying they would compensate him.
Officials from Mott assessed and verified the three portions of the affected land by the road.
UNRA in the end compensated only two portions leaving out one portion valued at Shs83.1m.
He requested court to force UNRA to return his land title, pay the remaining compensation and meet damages of the cost.
Through his lawyers Mugabi Advocates and solicitors, Ssekimpi is demanding for a Shs 500m.
Court’s registrar Alex Ajiji gave UNRA 21 days to file its defence.
