The government of Malawi has a new envoy for the post of Honorary Consul for its Embassy in Kampala.
The new official is Dr Charles Kallu Kalumiya, a senior partner with Kampala Associate Advocates.
He replaces Robert Mwesigwa Rukaari, a businessman and current Chairman of the ruling NRM Entrepreneurs League, who has represented Malawi in Uganda for the last eight years.
Mwesigwa, according to Daily Monitor, will now represent an oil rich country, yet to be named.
Last week, Malawi’s President, Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika appointed Dr Kalumiya as new country’s representative.
Dr Kalumiya presented his credentials to President Museveni after his appointment was approved by government.
The approval of his appointment makes Dr Kalumiya a recognised diplomat to exercise functions, power and privileges as are normally allowed under the International and country laws.
