Roy Ssemboga is the new Makerere University Guild president-elect.
Ssemboga was declared winner on Friday evening following fresh polls in the School of Education.
He polled only 35 votes out of the registered 1904 voters in the School of Education, while his rival, Mwotta Bazil Biddemu polled 45 votes.
Accordign to results announced by Makerere University Electoral Commission Chairman, Kenneth Isabirye, Ssemboga picked 4,247 votes followed by his closest rival, Bazil Mwotta Biddemu who polled 2,863 votes.
Ssemboga was thus Monday morning sworn in as the 82nd guild president alongside his guild representatives, councilors and GRC at an event presided over by the Vice chancellor Prof John Ddumba Ssentamu.
In his inaugural speech, Ssemboga promised to fight sexual harassment citing growing cases of lecturers demanding sex for marks.
In his cabinet, Ssemboga appointed Maria Nnatabi as guild vice president and Abbas Kizito as the information minister.
Ssemboga who replaces David Bala Bwiruka, the outgoing guild president, will have a 17-minister cabinet.
