At least 1,566 students who sat last year’s Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations have been admitted at Makerere University on government sponsorship.
A total of 1,288 will enrol at the Kampala based main campus while the institution’s while 278 students will study at Makerere University Business School (Mubs) an affiliate of Makerere University.
According to the list seen by this reporter, Bachelor of Medicine and surgery has the highest number of students with a total of 82 students followed by Bachelor of Science with Education (Physical) and Bachelor of Science with Education (Biological) each taking 70 students.
Bachelor of Commerce at Mubs leads with 56 students followed by Bachelor of Business Administration with 48 slots.
Each year government sponsors up to 4,000 students to study degree courses at various public universities across the country.
