Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the Budadiri West Member of Parliament has formerly announced his bid for the post of FDC party secretary general.
Nandala told journalists at his home in Kyambogo this afternoon that he is ready to revitalise the party by ensuring that all closed party offices are reopened countrywide.
According to Nandala, he wants all district party offices to be fully equipped with Information and Communication technology-ICT facilities to aid the dissemination of information from the party headquarters to the grassroots so as to boost the presence of the party in other parts of the country.
He also says once elected, he plans to start functional party leagues through establishment of cooperatives that will help improve to livelihoods.
When asked about his role in splitting the opposition party into factions, Nandala said he is not aware of rift.
According to Nandala, he decided to take a back bench and continue with his role as MP adding that he isn’t interested in breaking a party that he participated in popularising.
He acknowledged the work done by General Mugisha Muntu, the incumbent FDC president in organising grassroots elections despite the minor hiccups.
Asked about his relationship with General Muntu, Nandala said they are all geared towards improving the party, its structures and grass root strength.
Other aspirants eyeing the FDC secretary general’s seat are Wadri Kassiano Ezati, the Terego County MP, Nabila Nagayi Sempala Kampala Woman MP and Kaberamaido woman MP Ekwau Ibi Florence.
The elections are slated for Friday this week.
