The officer in charge of Kasana Police Post in Luwero Town Council, Corporal Edgar Tuhairwe, has been arrested.
The New Vision reports that Tuhairwe is still being detained at Luweero police station.
He is accused of neglect of duty and cowardice for failure to help his colleagues.
This morning, thugs armed with machetes attacked the police post and stabbed a police constable, Geoffrey Baala, to death.
The thugs killed Baala after the cop refused to give them keys to the armoury.
Baala’s colleague, Sgt. Sarah Acan, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kiwoko Health Center for treatment.
Baala’s body, on the other hand, was taken to the mortuary.
Police spokesman, Fred Enanga, says police has dispatched a team of security personnel to start with investigations.
Tuhairwe, the OC, who was in possession of a gun was allegedly taking a nap in a vehicle parked in the yard at the time of the incident.
He claims he never heard anything that took place.
