While on Simba radio, Ms Lumumba cautioned Ugandans against demonstrating saying clearly that demonstrators will be shot.
This is a caution from the government that no violence or demonstrations will be tolerated. You are advised to remain calm so that the free and fair elections can take place.
Some of you may ask questions such as the ones below:
1. If NRM is not a security agency, can a secretary general of a political party be issuing statements about security?
2. Who is we? Does Ms Lumumba speak for the Inspector General of Police or Museveni? I highly doubt this. Certainly no government official could go on live air and say people will be shot dead. Does she have any guns?
3 If Ms Lumumba has the power to utter such reckless statements then she deserves to be rebuked by the chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission. This is where we need Dr. Kiggundu to pay attention because president Museveni and Gen. Kayihura have enough work on their hands.
