Lukwago’s salary arrears to be cleared-Kamya

Minister in charge of Kampala affairs, Betty Olive Kamya has revealed that Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago’s salary arrears will be cleared in the shortest time possible.

While appearing before the Presidential Affairs committee of Parliament on Tuesday 27th September, Kamya said that consultations are ongoing with the Attorney General, Solicitor General and Lord Mayor to make sure that the money is paid within two weeks.

Lukwago’s salary arrears totaling to about Shs500 million accumulated when his term of as Lord Mayor from 2011 to 2016 was cut short following his impeachment by the KCCA council in 2013, over alleged abuse of office, misconduct and failure to convene meetings of the authority.
