Minsiter in charge of Kampala Beti Kamya says Kampala Capital Authority (KCCA) council chaired by City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has no business discussing her directives but rather just comply.
Kamya was referring to her directive to KCCA to evict all vendors from Kampala streets.
“I have already made a directive, the council doesn’t discuss the minister’s directive, they simply have to comply,” Minister Kamya said on Monday morning while appearing on NBS television.
As the televised interview was going on, KCCA enforcement officers and police were busy evicting the vendors from the streets.
The streets which have been accommodating vendors and were by Monday after clear include Namirembe road, Nakivubo Mews, Luwum Street, among others.
At the same time, KCCA council chaired by Lukwago also resolved to gazette particular streets on which vendors can be left to operate.
Further, the council resolved to introduce license fees for all the vendors who will register with KCCA to operate their businesses.
