Incumbent Erias Lukwago has been re-elected Kampala Lord Mayor.
Kampala district returning officer Charles Ntege declared Lukwago winner after picking over 80% of the votes.
He garnered 176,637 votes against NRM’s Daniel Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee’s 49,366 votes.
Democratic Party’s Issa Kikungwe polled 7,759 votes.
A total of 2,591 votes were invalid while 461 got spoilt.
This is the second time Lukwago a member of DP is beating a ruling party candidate.
Ssalongo on Monday, 14 January 2011 beat NRM’s Peter Sematimba to claim the seat.
In his victory speech, Lukwago said he had defeated President Yoweri Museveni.
“I have defeated president Museveni in this sweet victory,” said Lukwago after being declared winner.
He added: “We must come up with a new structural plan realigning key issues.”
He was voted out of office on 25 November 2013 by Councillors after a tribunal found him guilty of incompetence and abuse of office.
The Kampala Capital City Authority councilors voted 29 to 3 to impeach him.
He was re-instated on 28 November 2013 after the High Court Judge Yasin Nyanzi ordered Kampala Minister Frank Tumwebaze to stop the implementation of the tribunal report that paved way for his censure.
