Police Thursday arrested opposition politicians who were planning a rally at Sharing Hall Nsambya.
Former FDC President, Kiiza Besigye, party and Kampala Lord Mayor, Elias Lukwago, are being detained at Jinja Road Central Police Station, according to the latest reports.
The duo was arrested in Nsambya by police led by Siraji Bakaleke, the Kampala South Regional Police Commander.
They were picked with other activists who are currently detained at Katwe and Nsambya Police stations.
Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrests.
Asuman Basalirwa, the President Justice Forum-Jeema, told URN that opposition politicians were scheduled to hold a consultative meeting at Nsambya Sharing Hall on electoral reforms convened by Lukwago.
Basalirwa concurred with Lukwago saying they wrote to IGP Kale Kayihura about the consultative meeting and were allowed.
Yet police moved early this morning to cordon off Nsambya Sharing Hall.
When opposition members showed up, the blocked, arrested and whisked them off to various detentions.
