The Bishop of Lira Catholic Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Joseph Gusepe Franzelli has told Christians to imitate Jesus Christ’s love in serving the poor and the needy that neighbors them and that this should be demonstrated by action not just by mere word.
Franzelli said Christians should take into consideration that it is not optional to do what Jesus Christ told the disciples and his followers to but rather compulsory for all his followers through belief and love
In his homily on the Holy Thursday of the Lord’s Supper at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Lira, Franzelli said all Christians who cherish the word of God should make it as part of their life to love and serve everybody equally without segregation.
He said the lord reduced himself to the level of a slave to show his everlasting love, care and forgiveness to the mankind.
The Bishop also told Christians to ask themselves what they have done for the poor, sick and the needy neighboring them.
During the mass, Franzelli washed the feet of twelve Christians who represented his flock just as the twelve disciples of Jesus did on the Lords supper day.
Rt rev. was joined in the mass by the Vicar general of Lira Diocese Monsignor Desderious Pule and Fr Patrick Odur of Lira Cathedral.
Mean while today, Christians from the Anglican Church, Othordox and Catholics shall join together in prayers for the way of the cross
In Lira the procession shall begin from Mayors garden to referral hospital before joining Obote avenue upto to Crane Bank.
