Liberia: Only 1 student out of 42,000 admitted for degree


One candidate Liberia was admitted to the Bachelor 2016 West African Anglophone countries out of a total of 42,000.

Gbessagee Armstrong, 18, attended the JJ Roberts United Methodist School, an establishment located in the capital, Monrovia.

“No matter where you are, we are not less intelligent than our other comrades of West Africa. I hope others see this as a motivation.”, the new bachelor said.

These examinations were held in Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Gambia to assess levels of students.

According to results released by the Board of West Africa Examination (WAEC) in 2013, almost all the 25,000 Liberian candidates failed the test for admission to the University of Liberia, one of the two universities public of the country.

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has reacted, considering Liberia’s education system “mess”.
