The blaze of fire against the Police boss Gen. Kale Kayihura has continued getting hotter this morning a head of the court session where he is supposed to appear on Police brutality charges.
Appearing on NBS TV Human rights Lawyer Nicholas Opio said that Kayihura will be arrested if he fails respond to the court summons.
“If Kayihura ignores the summons, court might issue fresh warrants or even an arrest warrant,” said Opio.
He further clarified how he is just an ordinary Ugandan like any other person, and has nothing that grants him immunity from prosecution regardless of the position.
“Kayihura is a lawyer. He should subject himself to the due process of the law. What better way to prove one’s innocence more so Mr Kale Kayihura is an ordinary person. His office might not be ordinary but before the law, he is ordinary,” added Opio.
IGP is to appear with seven other officers including Andrew Kaggwa (former Kampala South Regional commander), James Ruhweza (former head of operations, Kampala Metropolitan), Samuel Bamuziibire, (former Kampala Metropolitan Field Force Unit commander), Patrick Muhumuza, (former operations commander of Field Force Unit, Kampala Metropolitan South), Wesley Nganizi, (former Regional police commander, Kampala North), Geoffrey Kaheebwa (former Deputy Regional Police Commander, Kampala South) and Moses Nanoka (former Wandegeya Division police commander).
