Lira district security committee has closed Lango College following a violent student’s strike on Tuesday night.
According to Uganda Radio Network, the students rampaged and set ablaze the school pickup truck registration number UAD 998N.
They smashed the windscreen of the school Lorry registration number UG 1585E, destroyed windowpanes in several classrooms and razed down toilets.
Following the destructive strike, the District security committee resolved to temporary close the school.
Emmanuel Mwaka Lutukumoi, the acting Lira District Commissioner, says police are holding 60 students believed to have masterminded the strike for questioning.
Florence Okello, the acting Head teacher Lango College, says only got to learn of the strike from a phone call from one of the teachers.
On Sunday, the Management of Aduku Secondary School in Apac District sent home more than 1,300 following a strike over miniskirts and tight trousers.
The violent strike reportedly led to loss of property worth Sh100 million by the Anglican founded mixed “O” and “A” level boarding school.
