On Monday, supporters of the Rwampara county MP, Vincent Mujuni Kyamadidi, stormed the office of the Mbarara Resident District Commissioner.
According to Endigyito radio, the desperate fans demanded that RDC Capt Martha Asiimwe intervenes over increased attacks from their candidate’s rivals.
The raid came after Kyamadidi’s vehicle was vandalized in Mwizi Sub County, as he had gone there to open up an office to help him in his campaigns.
Kyamadidi lost in the October 2015 NRM primaries to the now party flag bearer Charles Ngabirano.
He decided to contest on an independent ticket and faces FDC’s Ahimbisibwe Ongomu, independents Gordon Mutiima Kapa and Mercy Mworozi, on one hand and Ngabirano on the other.
His supporters claim that they are being harassed by his political rivals.
Asiimwe as head of security in the district, has the mandate to address their problem.
She promised to call meetings with the voters and the candidates in the area to resolve the matter.
