The only female Presidential candidate from Busoga region, Maureen Kyalya Walube, has promised to make her counterpart in the 2016 race, Elton Joseph Mabirizi, her vice president once elected into power.
Kyalya and Mabirizi yesterday held joint rallies in Iganga and Bugiri districts.
The two made stopovers at Busowa, Buwunga and Butaba trading centers and addressed supporters.
While addressing a rally at Bugiri Taxi Park, Kyalya promised to revive cooperates and create jobs for the youth.
She accused President Yoweri Museveni’s government of failure to improve household incomes.
Kyalya said when she tried to organize the Busoga kingdom by showing people the true Kyabazinga, some people referred to her as a mad woman.
She faulted her people for continuing to vote for Museveni yet he has neglected them.
She also promised to make Mabirizi her vice president in case she is elected into office.
Addressing a rally at Iganga Freedom Square, Mabirizi talked about human rights, civil liberties and freedoms that the current government has allegedly ignored.
“Our rights as Ugandans have been infringed on and foreigners are now more respected than us.”
He said now was the time to reclaim people powers by electing new leaders.
He promised to boost agriculture, better health care and education system.
He said President Museveni has no new ideas to offer to Ugandans.
