The kingdom of Tooro is celebrating the 21st coronation anniversary of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukiidi IV at the palace in Karuzika, Fort Portal, Kabarole district.
The celebrations are locally known as empango. King Oyo took over as the Tooro leader when he was just three years old, following the death of his father Patrick Olimi Kaboyo in 1995.
Speaking to hundreds of hundreds of people who had gathered to witness the commemoration, King Oyo called upon all the natives to unite in the fight against the dangerous disease HIV/AIDS claiming people across the world.
He further urged parents to embark on the spirit of educating the young ones since they are the leaders of tomorrow
Main parts of Fort Portal town were decorated with yellow and blue banners, the Kingdom colors and several men and women dressed in traditional attire were also seen walking on the streets of Fort Portal, heading to the palace, the venue of the celebrations as early as 7:30a.m.
