Uganda Electoral Commission chairman Eng Badru Kiggundu, has said he will announce the winner of 2016 presidential elections at 4:00pm Saturday.
Kiggundu made the remarks at Namboole national tally centre while reading out the tenth batch of provisional results from the Thursday February 18 election.
President Yoweri Museveni was still leading in both the ninth and tenth rounds of the provisional results.
In the ninth round of results from 23,308 polling stations of 28,010 total polling stations in the country, Museveni had 5,047,754 votes [61.55%] with Kizza Besigye following at 2,826,444 votes [34.47%].
The tenth round results came from 24,342 polling stations making it 86.9% of the 28,010 polling stations.
Besigye had 2,920,664 votes [34.18%] while Museveni got 5,288,074 [61.88%].
Kiggundu said the next release will be at 4pm and it will be a declaration of the winner.
Security is already tight at Namboole stadium ahead of the declaration.
