60 Kigezi High School S.4 students were last evening involved in a car accident leaving some of them hospitalised.
The students were coming from Kasese where they had gone of a geography field trip.
The accident took place in Kitagata – Bushenyi district.
One of the buses is said to have overturned injuring the students badly.
Those who sustained injuries are now admitted at Kitagata Hospital.
Marshal Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson, told New Vision that the bus belonging to Kabale Coaches Limited failed to negotiate the Kyamugabo-Omukataagi corner in Bushenyi and overturned.
He said 12 students and a teacher were critically injured.
Peter Akampurira, a teacher of Kabale Preparatory School told the newspaper that 10 boys including a Geography teacher, one Gad Bwerere, were rushed to Kabale International University teaching Hospital in Ishaka Bushenyi for medication and management.
The head teacher Kigezi High School, Stephen Mugume, said the students are getting specialized care and treatment.
The Board of Governors Kigezi High School is expected to give a statement following the nasty accident.
Rt Rev George Bagamuhunda, Bishop Kigezi diocese visited the hospitals in Bushenyi last night.
He confirmed that no one was dead but four students and a teacher need surgery.
The management is also expected to fundraise to help treat the injured.
